Hockey Passion is “Growing the Game”

W. Graeme Roustan has been making the media rounds since the Sept. 3 announcement of his TRUE Sports purchase.

Roustan, the former Chairman of Bauer, spoke with La Presse and The Globe and Mail in the hours following the announcement.

“True is an excellent company for the right buyer,” Roustan told La Presse. “I’m going to market and present the product like never before because True didn’t have the advertising and marketing budget of Bauer and CCM.

“I’m going to highlight the product, the factories, the employees, and the fact that the products are made in Quebec and Manitoba.”

“My passion isn’t getting rich off hockey, it’s growing the game,” Roustan told The Globe and Mail.

“We plan to roll out the same game plan at True that made Bauer number one, by expanding product lines and making hockey more affordable.

“True will introduce low-priced, entry-level products to grow the game, a category CCM and Bauer have exited.”
