NHL’s No. 1 Goalie Provider to Inspire Next Generation
RICHMOND HILL, ON – July 16, 2026 – TRUE Hockey and the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) today announced a five-year partnership designed to increase youth participation in goaltending by reducing one of the game’s biggest barriers: access to equipment.
As the Official Equipment Partner of the OMHA, TRUE Hockey is making a long-term investment in helping local associations attract, develop and retain young goaltenders across Ontario.
A key part of the partnership is the TRUE Hockey Goalie Assist Program, which will provide 75 complete sets of entry-level goalie equipment annually to OMHA associations—375 sets over the life of the partnership. The initiative is designed to reduce barriers to entry and give more young players the opportunity to try the position.
“Great goalies start with an opportunity,” said Geoff Sarjeant, Former NHL, OMHA goalie and TRUE President and Chief Growth Officer. “Our goal is to make the position more accessible, create excitement around goaltending and inspire more young athletes to step into the crease.”
The partnership will also include grassroots programs, digital storytelling, educational content and community activations that celebrate the goalie position and encourage participation across the province.
“TRUE Hockey and the Goalie Assist Program provide an opportunity for our youngest players to try and experience the goaltender position without the upfront equipment cost,” said Ian Taylor, Executive Director, OMHA. “We look forward to the impact this partnership will make in our communities across the province.”
“This program has helped us significantly with ensuring our junior programs get a chance to try out the position and help set our association up with goalies of the future,” said Adam Weishar, President of South Bruce Minor Hockey, which was a previous recipient of the Goalie Assist initiative. “Without the program we would need to spend each season to make sure we have equipment for our teams.”
For TRUE Hockey, the partnership reflects a commitment to growing the game and supporting the future of the position. Today, the majority of NHL goaltenders trust TRUE equipment, making the company the leading brand in the category.
By investing in access, awareness and development, TRUE Hockey and the OMHA aim to help local associations attract new participants, support existing goaltenders and ensure more young players have the opportunity to experience one of hockey’s most important position.
