W. Graeme Roustan has won an award for Best Director, Documentary Short at the 2024 World Film Festival in Cannes.
The award is for 6 Days in Ukraine: The War on Hockey which chronicles Roustan’s 2023 trip across Ukraine.
The 38-minute documentary film sees the owner/publisher of The Hockey News visit hockey rinks and meet players and other hockey stakeholders as Ukraine attempts to survive Russia’s war.
A specialized hospital was also visited as well as a destroyed rink, as many film locations were only a short distance from the war’s front lines.
